Join us for the next CMO Club Swiss Chapter event on Wednesday, 16th November. We have a fun evening of networking and insightful conversations planned. Please RSVP now to reserve your space as this is one you don't want to miss! Discussion Topic - Brands in the arenas of social policy The demands on companies and brands are constantly increasing. It is no longer product and service quality that are the sole drivers of a company’s reputation, but rather the values that a company is seen to hold. For some years now there has been a growing scepticism towards business, even among the middle classes. The ethic of responsibility is increasingly giving way to the ethic of attitude. It is no longer the consequences of actions that are judged, but their intention. With social media, civil society has become the most important stakeholder and the demands on companies have never been so high. Missteps such as greenwashing are immediately sanctioned, while at the same time the market demands clear commitments from brands on issues such as ecology, diversity and inclusion. The vision of ESG can be viewed quite positively from a brand perspective: companies have the power to create a better world. It is they who can quickly initiate a transformation towards more liberal democracy, a greater emphasis on ecology, more social engagement and perhaps even towards peace. The liberal axiom was once that a healthy democracy was a prerequisite for a functioning market. Is it perhaps the other way around in 2023?
