According to a recent Forbes article, the future belongs to Ecosystems.
Ecosystems offer greater reach to market opportunities, access to incremental expertise to drive new innovation and ultimately offer expanded value to customers.
In addition, today’s marketplace is not made up of a single siloed Ecosystem, partners and vendors alike might belong to multiple Ecosystems creating an Ecosystem of Ecosystems with the possibility of exponential growth through a vast network of trusted collaborators.
However, critics might argue that Ecosystems can create increased market conflict with partners and vendors competing for the same piece of the market pie, erode margins through rebates and fees paid, create challenges in maintaining the right skills and potentially dilution of the brand experience if not tightly managed.
